The Cost Estimator is responsible for developing accurate project estimates by analyzing costs related to materials, labor, and time, and ensuring cost efficiency for construction and development projects. As a Cost Estimator, you’ll play a crucial role in determining project budgets, assessing resource needs, and ensuring cost-effective solutions. Working closely with project teams, you’ll analyze various costs and contribute to the financial planning that supports successful project outcomes. Responsibilities
- Analyze project documents including drawings, specifications, and requirements to develop precise cost estimates
- Gather and evaluate information on materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs to ensure comprehensive budgetingAchieve monthly sales objectives
- Prepare detailed BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and cost breakdowns, supporting project budgeting and financial planning
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate their impact on project quality, timeline, and budget
- Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project scope, deadlines, and objectives
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in cost estimation within the construction industry
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Cost X, Candy) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in estimates
- Independent and effective communicator with the ability to work seamlessly with project stakeholders
Nice to have
- Familiarity with local and national building codes and regulations that impact project costs
- Experience in large-scale project estimation for commercial or infrastructure developments
- Certification in cost estimation (e.g., AACE, Certified Estimating Professional) or project management
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit for reviewing design documents and understanding project scope
- Knowledge of procurement processes and subcontractor management for better cost control
